OVERVIEW

About the Park

The Provo River runs along the edge of the property, and the Uinta Mountains start climbing from here. Roam Uinta sits at the gateway to Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, a 42-mile road that crests at 10,715 feet and opens up some of the best alpine camping, fishing, and hiking in Utah. Kamas is the last supply stop before the cell service drops out and the high country takes over.

Full-hookup RV sites line the riverbank with 30/50-amp service. Cabins come equipped with full kitchens, linens, and queen sleeper sofas, because “roughing it” has a pretty wide definition. Monthly stays are available year-round for seasonal workers, extended travelers, and anyone who’s figured out they don’t want to leave.

The clubhouse, pool, and hot tub anchor the common areas. A basketball court for burning off energy. Starlink WiFi across the property (a real luxury this close to wilderness). Well-maintained bathhouses and direct river access for guests who want to fish before coffee.

This stretch of the Provo River is blue-ribbon trout water. Rainbow and brown trout push 18 inches. You can cast from the bank without leaving the resort, which is the kind of detail that turns a 2-night stay into a week.

What to Expect New

What to Expect at Roam Uinta RV Resort

1 / 2

Roam Uinta sits on State Hwy 35 outside Kamas, UT, with the Provo River running through the property and the Mirror Lake Highway entrance in town.

The Vibe

A laid-back mountain park along the Provo River, big with the ATV crowd. Riverside sites, blue-ribbon trout water, and a trail system that draws off-road riders from all over.

A Typical Day

Cast for trout on the Provo (2-trout limit, artificial lures), ride out from the Cedar Hollow trailhead 1 mile down the road, then settle by the clubhouse fireplace. Sites 2 to 6 back right up to the river.

Best For

ATV riders, anglers, and quiet-mountain seekers. Cottage C2 sleeps a crowd with a queen and a loft of 4 twins, plus a kitchen and porch fire pit. Retro RVs sit on sites 48 and 49.

Good to Know

This older park runs tight for big rigs but stays big-rig friendly, with dirt and gravel sites that sit uneven, so bring leveling blocks. Verizon works well, but T-Mobile and AT&T barely get reception, and the Starlink WiFi won't support streaming. The hot tub is down until April repairs.

The Sites & Hookups

Roam Uinta has dirt and gravel RV sites, some uneven, with the most popular (sites 2 to 6) backing onto the Provo River. Lodging covers Cottage C2, a queen plus a loft with 4 twins, a kitchen, porch, and fire pit, and two Retro RVs on sites 48 and 49 with kitchens and shower-only baths (no pets). Eight long-term cabins carry a 6-month minimum. No outside firewood: bundles run $10. Monthly rates run $850 to $950 in summer and $800 to $900 in winter, plus a flat $150 utility charge.

Things to Do Nearby

You're at the gateway to the Uintas, with the Mirror Lake Highway entrance right in Kamas for alpine drives and lakes. Park City and Heber City are each 30 minutes out for dining and supplies. The ATV trail system is the big draw: the Cedar Hollow trailhead sits 1 mile down the road, with Mill Hollow, Soapstone, and Strawberry Reservoir reachable from the trails. Kamas, about 8 miles away, covers groceries and meals with Food Town, ACE Hardware, and spots like Summit Pizza, Mirror Lake Diner, and El Tigre Mexican Grill.
