What to Expect New

What to Expect at Dolores River RV Resort

1 / 2

Dolores River RV Resort sits on the north shore of the Dolores River, about 3 miles outside Dolores, Colorado, on the road toward Telluride.

The Vibe

Quiet, riverside, and built for getting out. The patio sites and walking trail keep things peaceful, while San Juan National Forest and Mesa Verde sit close enough to make this a launch pad for serious days outdoors.

A Typical Day

Fish the river or follow the walking trail in the cool morning, drive out to hike the canyons or tour Mesa Verde, then come back to a patio site and a fire with firewood from the office. Trade the day's stories over indoor table games after dark.

Best For

Hikers, anglers, and national-park travelers. Tents, covered wagons, RVs, campers, and cabins all fit, with ADA-accessible and pull-through options. Up to 2 dogs per unit at $10 per dog per night, welcome at the beach and across the grounds.

Good to Know

The office keeps no posted weekday hours, so call ahead before arrival, especially for directions or late check-in. Dogs aren't allowed in the Airstream trailer, and overflow parking runs $5 per vehicle. Car camping is tent-site only and requires an onboard tent.

The Sites & Hookups

Dolores River runs full-hookup RV sites with 30 and 50-amp service, plus separate water and sewer hookups, in pull-through and back-in layouts. ADA-accessible sites are available. Stay types span tents, covered wagons, RVs, campers, and cabins, so you can rough it or settle in. Up to 2 dogs per unit run $10 per dog per night, though the Airstream is dog-free. Ice, propane, and firewood sell on site. Overnight rates start at $15, monthly at $700. Overflow parking is $5 per vehicle.

Things to Do Nearby

You're about 3 miles from the town of Dolores, on the way to Telluride. Mesa Verde National Park and its cliff dwellings sit within reach, along with the Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center & Museum. McPhee Reservoir handles boating and fishing from mid-April, the Boggy Draw Trailhead opens 24 hours year-round for mountain biking and hiking, and the Dolores River Brewery pours wood-fired pizza Friday through Sunday. The Rico Historic District makes a scenic drive. Dolores covers groceries and supplies.
